Matchachawan cup - ash glaze - "rust"
1. Product description
color:”rust”
Handcrafted, minimalist matcha bowls, inspired by the traditional Japanese matcha chawn. Each bowl is a unique piece with a natural texture and rusty color, emphasizing the artisanal character of the product. Perfect for those who appreciate nature, minimalism, and a wabi-sabi atmosphere . Available as a set or individually. Price is for one piece.
2. Purpose
These bowls are designed for preparing and drinking matcha—both in an everyday ritual and in a more formal setting inspired by the Japanese chanoyu tea ceremony. They also work well as bowls for loose-leaf teas, small snacks, or desserts.
3. Production technique
Each bowl was hand-formed on a potter's wheel . The vessels were dried, fired at high temperatures, and coated with a glaze with a distinct structure and characteristic rusty discoloration. The glaze is homemade and has a very simple composition—an ash glaze typical of Japanese ceramics. The hand-crafted nature of the bowls results in subtle differences in shape, proportions, and texture.
4. Colors and character
The colors are caramel, burnt ochre, earthy browns, light abrasions , and metallic shimmer. The finish is matte-satin, sometimes rough, with clearly visible fire and "stringing" effects typical of ash glazes. These bowls have a very natural, organic character that beautifully reflects the philosophy of peace and imperfection.
