Matchachawan "ochre"
1. Product description
color: ochre
Hand-formed matcha tea bowls, inspired by the traditional Japanese chawan form. Limited edition of 6. Price is for 1 piece.
Each piece is individually crafted, giving each vessel a unique character and a subtle, organic aesthetic that aligns with the wabi-sabi philosophy. These bowls are perfect for both the daily matcha brewing ritual and as a unique addition to a ceramic collection.
2. Purpose
The bowls are designed for preparing and drinking matcha, in accordance with the tradition of the Japanese tea ceremony. Their shape makes it easy to whisk the tea with a bamboo whisk (chasen) and comfortable to hold during tasting. They also work well as vessels for loose-leaf teas, coffee, and for serving small snacks and other beverages.
3. Production technique
The vessels were hand-thrown on a potter's wheel . After shaping, each bowl was carefully finished, dried, and fired at high temperatures, ensuring durability and resistance to everyday use. Subtle irregularities and tool marks are a deliberate design element that emphasizes the handmade character.
4. Colors and character
The cups are designed in a warm, natural palette of earthy beiges , with subtle abrasions and raw clay effects visible beneath the glaze. Their matte-satin finish and organic texture give them a calming, minimalist character. These vessels evoke the harmony of Japanese aesthetics and foster a mindful tea-making ritual.
